ckadventuresjournal 14 DCSB TRD OR Build

Well I traded in an expo style 07 FJ on 5/6/14 for my new 14 DCSB Tacoma with 3 miles on it, the dealer hadn't even processed it yet. Needless to say, it was a bitter sweet day!

Now to build this, 14 DCSB TRD OR Taco, I will be doing a mild expo style rig that still has as much towing capacity as possible, while being able to take me places the typical person never sees.
List of mods:

3ish" lift
Rear Airbags - Maybe?
Bumpers - Front & Rear
Winch
Sliders
Skids - Maybe?
Roof Rack
Tires - Allterrains
Topper w/ Rack
Bed Tool Box
Dual Battery Set Up
LED's
Fridge
Recovery Gear
CB
Break Controller
Window Tint
Remote Start

So, the plan is to build the Taco and see the country while we're still semi -young, mid 30's. My girlfriend and I can work remotely as long as we have cell and internet service, so the plan will be to hold up at a campground during the week, 8am-5pm for work, and then explore in the evenings and weekends. We plan to travel with good weather and on a course that will follow a lot of the off road/expo events around the country.

The biggest travel trailer/hybrid we can, because we will be living and working in it. We plan to set up in a CG for a month give/take at a time and use the truck to explore the area, then move no more than 500 miles and repeat.

Sounds like it will be a fun adventure!

I lived in a 21' trailer for a year. It will be interesting! What's the towing rating of the new taco? At least your not planning to move far each time you do move.

Yeah, that's the plan, to keep the move down to a day's drive. I figure to move on a Sat, get setup and enjoy Sun.

Sounds very interesting, I've always wanted to try living out of a slide in pop up or tear drop.

Sounds like the rig I'm just completing. Same truck and even color, only a TRD Sport. Eight out of ten things on ur list completed within the last 30 days. Sliders in two weeks and then air lockers.

Aside from my bed slide and roof top tent, we have very similar set ups.

Fwiw, go for the air bags. Tacoma OEM springs suck, even with aal's. Towing a load like that, unless you like having your headlights illuminating the tree branches and wearing the crap out if your tires, you won't regret it. ;)

Come over to Tacoma World if u haven't already.

Toygoose - hey man, I just saw that you sent me a PM a number of days ago. I apologize, I just never spend any time on this site really. I don't know why, since it's pretty awesome!

Anyway, yes I did have an awning for sale but sold it yesterday. I really need to get in and set up my profile on expedition portal and set it up so that I received a notification of private messages. Again sorry about that.
