Yes, that 370 Lima engine is a gutless mess. My father has had a 1980 F700 tandem with the 370 on the ranch for 27 years. I have spent many many hours under that hood and stranded at the grain elevator for one thing or another. He only uses it during harvest and won't justify repowering it. They did come with little 3208 CATs that can be found on the cheap swapped fairly easily. In a medium truck I would avoid the 370/429 Limas.

Thinkin' out loud...

So...
Suppose one could nab it for about 3k. Find a good deal on a 12 or 24V Cummins/Manual truck for say 5k. Sell off everything from the Dodge to recoupe a little $$...maybe be in it for 6 or 7k. Still puts you way ahead of a MOG since most of those that are affordable are gassers. Plus there would be the "only one like it" coolness factor..! I wonder what the axles and t case are...?
