We are selling our beloved 60s Patrol, as our trip through South America is coming to an end. The Patrol is a classic, a 1979 Nissan LG60 Patrol four-wheel drive with a custom made roof tent where two people can sleep very comfortably with extra space for backpacks and other luggage inside the tent, as well as on the roof rack.
The car has seats for 8 persons, so 4 people can easily travel comfortably with a lot of camping gear, backpacks etc. It is also possible to build another bed inside the car with very few materials. The Patrol also has a security box under the front seat, locked with a padlock.
It has a 4-litre, 6-cylinder gasoline engine with 145 bhp and a whopping 320 nm torque.
The Patrol comes with all the necessary camping equipment, everything from sleeping bags and blankets to gas-stove and cutlery (see list below). We recently bought insurance ($250) which lasts 1 year and the car recently passed the technical inspection in Colombia.
The Patrol just had an overall inspection from a Nissan Patrol expert in Ecuador, so we know what repairs that would be good to have done before going on the next long trip. As this car is very common in Colombia (as well as Venezuela), it is the cheapest place to have the repairs done. In Ecuador we were told that it could be done for $700-$1000, but it should be cheaper here in Columbia.
It is a Colombian vehicle so the ownership can only be transferred here.
As this is an old South American classic you will meet a lot of people interested in the car on your way. If you're going north from here there will also be a lot of Patrol enthusiasts in the United States!
We hope our truck will find some travelers who can take her for another spin around the Americas.
