Comeup and Winch Efficiency

Compare 4 layer pull capacity. From a practicality stand point it tells you a little more. The Warn curve would be a little flatter. But if you're concerned with first layer speed and amperage then the comeup wins. I don't tend to operate there too often though.

A winch is strongest with 4-5 wraps on the drum. In my 32 years around winches on jeeps and tow trucks 95% of your pull you have les than half of your cable out. There for your working it even harder I have found the new cheap winches fail at this. Not to say I don't own a few harbor freight winches.

I'm going to throw the BS flag on the comeup specs you posted. (Only flag I could find...)
Looking at the linked Comeup website, the 9k winch is rated to pull 6.4ft/min at 9000lbs, whice drawing 350 amps. (There's a rescale just to the left of the 9k spec columns)
Given how much development goes into the Warn winches, I'm a little more than confused how this Chinese winch is seemingly doing much much better in terms of line speed and amp draw... My guess is that real testing would show otherwise, and that they're probably about all equal.
YMMV, but if the price is affordable, and nothing else is, then at least you get something. I wouldn't worry about a few amps or feet/min difference, and I'd go with what you can afford.
Do post back with how it works out for you if you get one!

All first layer pulls? Again, I don't usually operate mine on the first layer. I would guess most people don't. The capacity of the Warn is much better with 4 wraps than the Comeup. If I buy an 9000 lb. winch I want to be able to use as much of that as possible when necessary. I don't want a winch that gives me 50% or so of it's maximum capacity if it can be avoided. The Comeup seems to lose capacity more dramatically than the Warn with each wrap.
I personally don't see line speed as being all that important. Most pulls I do aren't long enough to worry too much about amp draw. I'm sure these attributes are more important to others. Do your research and buy one with the attributes you want.
