Confusion with the vin on my Montero

Hey, I'm curious as why when I look up parts using my vin in Rock Auto, WorldPac or Advance Auto Parts my Montero shows up as a Montero Sport.

But if I use an online Vin Decoder it tells me otherwise and on some decoders it says it's a 3.5.

Mine is a 3.0, it's a Dakar Edition Montero (sold here in Puerto Rico as a Dakar Edition).

Can anybody shed some light on why it shows up in sone places as a Montero Sport rather than a Montero?

Montero, Trim level = Sport maybe like the older Monteros. I imagine yours has the old 12v engine?

No, I have the 24v 3.0 sohc. But some vin decoders say it has the 3.5 dohc and others say it has the 3.0 24v sohc.

I know what I have I just wanted to know why it shows up as Montero Sport.

Try entering the vin on a mitsubishi parts website and see what it comes up as
