OK got a email back from the person that actually makes the electrical panels
I asked him if he had a manual and to explain the isolator switch and any other helpful info he has on the panel we could use :)

this kinda answered the questions about my fans dying ! :)

this is what he said:

to answer all your questions, the battery isolator circuit breaker cut the battery power from the panel. If the isolator is switched off then there are no battery power on the panel, only 12V power from the charger itself. You can leave the power on to charge the batteries, because we use a dedicated battery charging Ic to charge the battery and it go in a trickle charge state with reduduced voltage not to overcharge the batteries.
The fans cycle life is aprox 4-5 years and then they should be renewed.

I hope this will help you.

Wow, that is a pretty good amount of info.
I had real issues with my panel this weekend. The battery drained totally and even with a generator connected as shore power, ... with the battery (new) totally drained, I got no power to anything! It sucked!
Luckily I had the generator, so I just hooked the Engel directly to the Honda and let it roll.

Contrary, I have a friend (Chris- DieselandMud) who has a Base Camp. He disconnects everything when he is at home (rather than leave hooked to shore power to charge battery) and leaves the battery disconnected to the trailer, but hooked to a Battery Tender to keep it charged. He also used a Diehard Platinum Marine Battery. He had charge left over when he left for the weekend!
