Considering an '03-04 Disco or LR3...

X2!! Or look in any metropolitan area where there is a proliferation of soccer Moms...

For a while there I was pretty hot and heavy on a LR3 or LR4. Seriously. a 2010 LR4 here in Atlanta was going for $~40k. Somewhere between 25~40k on the clock. Pretty much the exact same truck was for sale in Florida for $5k less. I saw it across the board for all the LR3s and LR4s. Heard of plenty of people getting deals in Florida. A lot of people down there that "just want it gone".

I assure you there are tons of soccer moms here in Atlanta, but the prices were holding until about 2 months ago.

Back on track. Yeah, at 5~7k you are getting a D2. Good luck.

Well as I mentioned above the big decision will be getting rid of the Ram 2500 or not. If so, I'll be in the 20k range for a LR...if not, still unsure. I was looking at the 2nd gen Xterras before to keep on the tight budget, just always wanted a LR. For my situation the best thing would be to ditch the truck and it's enormous amount of overhead for a clean used LR3 that can be a jack of all trades. Main issue is that the wife loves the big truck and is not excited about the looks of a LR...

I had a similar issue a few months ago. I first wanted to buy an older RRC or LR3 and keep my 09' silverado 1500 as my daily driver and for trailers.

When I went to look at a few used LR3's at the local LR dealer I decided, what the hell, I'll test drive an LR4 because I have always liked them. Well, for better or for worse, I ended up trading in my truck for the new LR4. They made me a good deal.

I love it. It's more comfortable than my truck, better mileage, it fits in parking spaces better. The only real draw back is the lack of a truck bed. I solved that issue by getting a Weathertech Mat in the rear, a hitch rack or I use my flat bed trailer. The LR4 even tows a little better than my truck, granted I had a half ton truck. I'm sure your 2500 will tow more than a LR4 but the LR4 does a good job for most things.

My advice would be if you don't need a truck bed often, that trading it for a nice LR3 or 4 is a good deal.
