Wow. First off, congrats on your union. And you are a very lucky man, the women I have been with in my lifetime would never have considered a trip like you two took a honeymoon, they would have considered it a total hardship (well, at least the camping parts).

Anyways, great report and pictures. It makes me want to hot spring hop. I went through Thermopolis, WY on my way to Yellowstone in 2003, nice town.

I wanted to add to your inticement about the remoteness of the roads in the Sante Fe NF in northern NM, and perhaps Monument Valley. If you truly want to get remote and visit the four corners area (mainly south of it) again, you should visit Canyon De Chelly (pronounced 'canyon de shay') just east of Chinle, AZ, and then go to the White Mountains of Arizona. Those are two 'secret' areas. There are so many roads to explore in the Apache Sitgreaves NF it could literaly take you days, or weeks to do so.

There's a few other spots I wanted to mention that were near your route, but . . . . .

thanks man. Yeah We actually hit Canyon de Chelly another year on the way to mexico, but didnt really get a chance to explore it other than one day on foot. The roads down in the bottoms of the canyons, are those fair game to drive on? It is an amazing place and id love to explore it more. Too many cool places in the world!

No. You have to hook up with a Dine (Navajo) to be able to drive the bottom of the canyon. There are licensed guides as well.

Congratulations on am amazing trip and adventure! I continue to be impressed with how much overlanding and off road camping one can accomplish in a 2wd with good clearance! Did you ever feel like your vehicle might not make it out?:coffeedrink:

Yeah, i mean with a 2wd, you know your limitation, and dont push it too much. Also at some point to you just have to accept that **** might hit the fan and you might have to walk or bike a long way out of somewhere, and plan accordingly. Luckily most of the rough roads we drove were steep up, so i could just push it as far as i wanted, and then if we got stuck it was simply a matter of heading back down. fun times.
