Converting a 2wd to 4wd..

I have a 27ft Class C motorhome. It's on the Econoline E-350 Chassis. 1988.
460 engine, C-6 Trans twin I-beam suspension.

Ford made this unit as a 4wd in other van applications. How hard/easy would it be to find a donor vehicle and convert mine over? Would need trans/transfer case and all the front drive line and running gear...

Has anyone done this?

My rig is in good shape. The dry weight is about 8000 lbs.. The rear has been re-sprung and lifted just a bit. Sits and rides great. Engine is fuel injected, new heads and Doug Thorley long tube Tri-Y headers and runs real good.

I have not done the conversion myself, however I hear that it is quite easy. If I remember correctly...find yourself a simillar year F150 4x4 donor and the parts supposedly "bolt right on". (that term cracks me up! NOTHING just bolts right on).

Good luck! there are a lot of 4x4 van people that know WAY more than I do.

I clicked your links and like your rig. 4x yes? Also love the sig line.... Nothing goes together like 4x's and tequilia....nice.

Maybe Tecate....
