Cooper AT3 size/load range?

I need new tires on my 3rd gen t4r. Looking at the Cooper AT3 in 235/85/16 E or 265/75/16 C. From what I understand, the C load rating matches the GVWR best, but I see a lot of guys running the 235 on the same weight rig. This is my DD, so a good amount of highway use. Also, being in the UP they'll see a lot of ice and snow. Any comments or suggestions? Thanks, Ian

C rating is plenty IMO, but there is something to be said for the narrower tires, which give less rolling resistance and tend to cut down better through snow or mud to a firm base (if such exists).

I have a set of Cooper AT3's 265/70/16 E rated tires on my 2001 Tundra. I love them. As my work truck/daily driver, I wanted the E rated tires for their ability to handle the maximum loads. I have not noticed any decrease in ride comfort in going from standard load LT tires to this E rated LT tire. These Coopers are the best tire I've ever had.

I have cooper c's on the v8 05 4runner and e's on our 1-ton diesel van.. I would never consider putting e's on the 4runner personally unless it was a real work truck first and foremost. They also weigh 5-10 lbs more = worse mileage. I love the 235 85r 16s though, great tire size and hasn't affected handling at all, and awesome in the snow..

I have 265/75/16 P tires on my 99 4runner, and they're great I love em!I got the P rated tire after the manager at discount tire told me he'd been offroading with P tires and never had a problem. I do a lot of highway driving and offroad acouple times a month.

Thanks for the info. I'm leaning towards the 265/75 C's. They'll be a bit more $$ and weigh a couple pounds more, but I think the ride will be better. I can't see the extra inch of width being a problem as the 255/85 has the same contact patch and a lot of people run them. Oh and they're 6ply equivalent LT's, so they should be tough enough for my use.
