A few more pics
So the plan on this trip was to kind of do a condensed version of my earlier trips, so that my wife, her brother and my sister in law could really get a feel for what the OBX was all about, which meant traveling the entire length of the islands. It was a bit of a stretch on time because we were only staying three nights, because of their work constraints, but, in the end, they wouldn't have to stare at the map and wonder "what's down there?" or "what's all the way up North?", because we covered the whole length, from top to bottom.
Another visit to Jockey's Ridge
I finally got to snap a pic of the Bodie Island Light house. I've tried to visit two other times and it was closed due to Hurricane damage
Seagulls at the Ocracoke ferry station
The sunset on the sound side of highway 12
Some of the local wildlife
A relaxing walk on the beach at Oregon Inlet
And finally, the main reason that I wanted to update this thread. After two years of unsuccessful attempts at catching a glimpse of the wild horses, on the beach by the ocean, I finally got it! I have been kidding around for a while now, saying that post card photographers must have to chase the horses down by the ocean to snap a pic of them by the water. Fortunately you really don't have to do that,...and we lucked out
Well that concludes this years Memorial day trip to the OBX. Who knows, maybe Labor day? Just a friendly disclaimer, some of the pics are placed out of sequence. It would be pretty tough to hit Carova and Ocracoke in the same day, but with a little planning it can be easily done on a long weekend. Thanks again for looking.
