Couple of Shots from the 2009 North American International Autoshow in Detroit

Most of these have been floating around the web for a few months already, but I thought I'd post up some pictures from yesterdays Detroit Autoshow

This week is Press Week before it opens to the public

This was one of the only vehicles that stood out in my mind as Overland worthy, but after talking to the designer for a bit, she said they have no plans on a 4x4 version, and the diesel motor that is being used in Europe wont be here for 3-5 years:confused:

I thought this would be a cool Mini Sprinter option with limited fireroads or backroads travel. After talking with her, I'm not too sure it would be all that capable with the motor and front wheel drive drivetrain.

It's coming standard with a 2.0L I-4 Duratech Engine and claims to average 19 city mpg and 24 hwy

It has slideing doors on both sides and rear doors that swing out nice and wide

It will be available in the States in July

I'm amazed it has taken this long for the builders to figure this option out !

This was in a Dodge Ram truck and is supposed to be available on 2010 models out in June.

Now this was one of the omst impressive models I saw, being one of the only trucks/SUV's that has the electric motor available.

Crazy part was Chrysler/Jeep had no one available to question, and I've sent numerous emails to their PR department with no replies in the past few weeks

I'd love to know if the electric motor would work in 4x4 mode and how it would keep up off-road? This Wrangler was set up more for road travel with the tire/suspension it comes with

THey also have a Compass version that has the Electric Motor Hybrid that will be an option. These are supposed to be out in 2010

This Compass was called the Rallye Version and I'm thinking is to compete with the Subaru buyers

Roush has a Propane F-150 option they are offering that I'm planning on doing some more research on, but the truck looks the same, just outfitted with a Propane tank and has a 50 gallon auxillary tank that can be mounted in the bed for extended range

KIA has a Fuel Cell Hydrogen Hybrid that claims to travel from LA to San Francisco on a single charge

This has nothing related to Expedition Travel, but I thought it was awesome that Fisker, maker of one of the most beautiful Electric Cars has solar panels worked right into the roof of their vehicle

This would be amazing when the trickle down effect finally reaches us consumers and is an option to put on campers, trucks or vehicles to charge our battery banks and not have to have the big bulky panels mounted to the roof line

Chevy also has a little Electric vehicle (think Smart Car size) that doesnt have side view mirrors but uses cameras instead

BMW also has a whole new line of motors they're calling Efficient Dynamics Advanced Diesels that claim to burn very efficiently and offer better fuel mileage

The rest were cars and electric vehicles that dont really have too much to do with Expedition Travel, but really look like the future of motorized travel is headed in the right direction - clean, efficient, renewable models - About time!
