Covert Winch for Jeep WJ ...

Before I order a front hitch mount in order to attach a removable Winch I thought I would ask ... is there such an animal as a covert winch mounting option for JeepWJ something in the lines of what these guys did for the Volvo ...

Nothing in production.

I've been working on one for mine for the past few months, but nothing has materialized as far as finished product goes, just reinforcing plates and such.

AEV made one for the WK Mojave, but that is the closest thing you'll find.

I'm currently toying with my own concept for this as well; nothing yet, but time will tell. I'll have to wait til summer to really get into it.

I worked hard at planning one out. It can be done but involves removing and reworking the front brace between the frame rails and fabbing a tray that ties them together.

In the end I had an ARB land in my lap for 1/2 price & just did the easy thing.

I don't like the way he mounted the tray, I would use a sandwich type mounting bracket for inside the frame rail and behind the front cross rail tying back to the side of the frame rail as well.

The closest thing I have found that has been done by an average user is this.

The write up is gone but I saved the images. I plan to copy this some day and mount my Warn on a plate and be able to use it on either of my Jeeps.
