oh, in case I hadn't said it, that truck is "tits" or at least that is what we said back in high school when we thought something was totally cool.

Thanks everyone for the compliments on the truck. I would love a diesel, especially the Liberty 2.8 CRD. But my drivetrain in this truck is too nice to pull, I'll prob either get another comanche like a pre-91 for that once I get employed or maybe do a diesel in my wrangler along with a brute kit with a Flatbed. Got tons of ideas running through my head just no money yet. Have applied for two Forest service jobs out here but their selection process takes a while. On top of that The University of Montana doesn't offer in-state tuition for veterans anymore as of a couple weeks ago, great timing! So the Comanche might have to make another move, North Dakota, Utah and Alaska are the options I'm looking at if I can't get employed around here soon. If anyone knows about some nice trails in Northwestern Montana I'd love to know about them! Thanks

Love this rig :). First of all, Comanches are not too common and I like the boxy look. Second your choice of rustoleum sand looks amazing (we also used this color for the roll bars on my LJ and for the jerry cans on my wife's TJ.) Third, nice choice on the steelies. When you want a change sometime in the future, consider painting them white like the Jeep JT project. It has the same color scheme. I just wanted to say nice job on your build. Take your rig to the Selway river for some fishing -great area!

Head up to Glacier National Park and take Inside North Fork Rd up to Kintla Lake, beautiful area to camp. When there visit nearby Polebridge, MT and get some fresh baked yumminess at the Polebridge Mercantile.

There is a good road in Sanders County straight south of you that goes up a mountain called Chicago Peak that is a nice 4x4 mandatory route. Its short and only an out and back, but the hiking in the wilderness area is second to none. I went up there last weekend and there was still snow on the road but I'm sure it is passable now.

Then just across the border in Idaho is a mountain called Idaho Point. I haven't been there yet, but I'm told that it is very precarious and very rocky. I guess up on the tippy top of this mountain there is just barely enough room for one vehicle to turn around and if you meet anyone else on the road it is pretty hair raising. I'd be game for a convoy up either one of these trails if you want. PM me for more specific directions to get to these places.

Thanks for the info on those trails. kc0tma we'll have to take our rigs up there sometime.

I just picked up a new Comanche project today, planning on doing the OM617 mercedes diesel and a flatbed on this one.

1986 2.8L 4x4 5 speed longbed with a split crankshaft for $300

Yeah man the shop is huge, I found a few Mercedes' with the turbo diesel, and I found an ax-15 tranny at the junkyard here but they won't sell it unless I buy the whole rolled cherokee and they want 1750 for it. So I guess I'll wait it out and collect all the parts.

You can probably pick up a whole Merc car for that price & honestly theres parts you will need from it!

However if you need help I find get a good known running OM617, 231K on it for 150 bones but I'll need to pull it. IF you wanted I could pull it & we can work out shipping? And theres a few ax15s on jeepforum if you wanna check that out.
