Picked up this trailer for $120, it needing a lot of work. Pretty much someone else's project that they werent close to finishing. It actually tows pretty well for being so

It does though:
-new 6 lug 5k axle
-new leaf springs
-new channel and lunette ring
-frame is all new metal, but needs cleaned up, reinforced, and paint/undercoat

Plans are:
-Tear it all down, clean up, reinforce and paint the frame
-redo the sides/top
-make a rear door for the storage area
-add trailer lights
-add rtt mounts
-add propane/jerry can mounts
-do one slide out table
-add fenders
-maybe to on board rv water tank

What size metal did they use for the frame? From what I can see of it from the box to the tongue it looks TINY

It's mostly 1x2 or 1x3 for the frame. It does need reinforcement and beefing up.

I am going to run a 2x2 along the spine of the frame to stiffen it up.

You definitely need to do that. I have a 2x2 1/8" wall trailer and it's frame tongue was bent when I got it. I replaced the front of it with 2x3 3/16" It's going to look sweet behind the truck.
