Custom Rack for Hard Shell RTT

I would like a rack that accomplishes two goals related to my use of a hard shell root top tent:

1. Is as low-profile/roof hugging as possible;
2. Protects the RTT as much as possible;

I do not want a rack with the RTT sitting "on top" of it, if that makes sense. Has anyone seen anything like this?

(My RTT is 90.5" by 57". This would go on a 4th gen 4Runner.)

What do you mean by not wanting a rack with the RTT sitting on top of it? Most RTT's fold out requiring them to be mounted on top of a flat surface. Is yours a pop up hardshell type tent?

I mean where the tent is above the outer rails of the basket. Yes, popup hard shell.

Interesting idea. Seems like a good concept. The biggest issue I can see is finding a rack that is a basket style that large. Definitely would have to do something custom. There are a variety of flat platform racks that would work but not offer the protection you are wanting.
