CVT Mt Rainer Tent - Any Reviews? Need mounting tips.

Anyone have any experience with a CVT Mt. Rainer?

I've got a crew-cab 2011 F-150 that I want to stick an RTT on. Currently, I'm thinking about getting a set of Thule Bars and mounting the RTT directly to those. That should be an adequate setup, right? I've seen guys run 3 bars...would 2 be enough? I like the idea of something that can be easily removed from the truck, as it's also my DD. I had planned to set up a hoist system in my garage to lift\remove\install\store the RTT. Drive the truck in, hook up some straps, lift it up, back out truck. Done. Just seems like the best way to do it.

So any reviews?

Reviews on the tent? We have one and are happy with it. Several people have written it up.

Comments on your mounting plan? I'm not sure where you're planning to put the cross bars. On top of the cab or on top of a shell over the bed, make sure you can fit into your garage. If you're going to mount the bars low (just above the bed) you lose a lot of cargo space and you can't use the annex very well.

Two bars should be fine. The mounting bars on the tent are pretty rigid. Putting it on /taking it off requires undoing 8 bolts. It isn't terribly difficult, but it isn't "quick disconnect" either. Once you've got it aligned right the first time make sure you mark the bars, bolts, etc. Everything will slide around when you lift it off and getting everything aligned again can be a bit of a pain.

I cannot speak of the tent however in the mounting aspects, the roof rack is nice but some straight bars work just as good minus the actual weight of the roof rack, which in different vehicles I feel effects them. Once the roof rack goes on top of my FJ80 it takes up over half of the actual roof top rack space, on the Tacoma shell I use Yakima racks on the front runner rails to disperse the weight and it works great. I like to look at the multipurpose part of it, what else when the rooftop tent is not on it can I use it for? This is just my two cents...

Currently the plan is to run the thule bars over the cab. The truck with RTT should fit nicely in the garage, provided I fix the garage door opener.

Currently, my plan is to leave the bars bolted to the RTT, and undo the clasps at the end of the rails themselves and lift the whole setup off. That way I don't have to get it lined up each time. Does that make sense?

thats how I do it with the Yakima bars on my bantam trailer... I did line up the clamp and the bar with a marking pen so it lines up each and every time
