Dana super 60 2013 brakes on 2012 axle?

I got a donor dana super 60 out of a 2012 Ford F350 for my van 4wd conversion. It didn't come with brake calipers and the discs are about shot. So I was wondering if it was possible to use the larger 14.3" discs and calipers from a 2013 on a an older 2012 axle?

Looking at part numbers alone 2012 s 2013...

Steering knuckles, rotors, and calipers all have different part numbers

Would it make sense then, if I'm going to look for a Sterling 10,5" rear, that I should stick with the same year range to match?

If its convenient in the axle hunting, sure.

But it certainly isnt required.

What axle do you have in the rear now?
If it isn't a Sterling, then changing to a Sterling ups the chances for a factory E-locker.

I just have the dana 60 semi-floating axle that came with the van. 2009 ford e350.

On a somewhat related mater. What’s involved in upgrading ‘97 E350 2WD front brakes on a dually to stronger brakes from a newer van?

I believe it involves swapping to newer radius arms and the knuckles to match. Which years? What is the strongest, longest lasting, and most reasonable for what we get?

Any recommendations on upgrades to the rear axle? I’ve got a ‘97 Dana 70 with stock drum brakes. I know one option is to swap to a sterling disc axle... but what other options are there short of that?

I have found the brakes seem stronger after swapping out the ‘97 master & booster for an ‘01 master and booster. It also made a big difference after the replacing the vacuum pump the 2nd time... leading me to believe the 1st “new” aftermarket pump wasn’t up to snuff.

Hydro boost is another option I considered until I got the 2nd vacuum pump.

Well good news. I contacted the yard I bought the axle from, and as long as I do it within the 90 day window from when I purchased the axle, I should be able to exchange the 2012 axle for credit to get a 2013 - 2016 axle. I think I'd like to go with deeper 4.30 gears too. The 2012 axle I got with 3.73 gears to match the dana 60 on the van right now, but if I'm going to run 33's or 35's, then I might as well get the right gears from the start, and save me the trouble and expense of changing gears. I'm probably going to source a Sterling 10.5" for the rear too, so I'll look for that in the same gear ratio.
