Dark Interior, possible to add switch to control dome lights when doors closed?

Is this possible? I've got young kids, and the cruiser is DARK when it's dark. I don't have any map lights or dome light in the first row, so being able to at least turn something on would be helpful.

I'm not an electrical wizard, but would it be possible to do something with the door/dome relay? I've had several other cars that had a simple switch or something with the dimmer to turn the dome lights on.

for additional lighting, I'm hoping to add some LED strip lighting to the door open wiring or to the dome lights.

Many thanks for any help you can provide! I've been digging through search results without much fruit. Let me know if I can provide some more info that would be helpful.

It's completely possible to do. You'd need to override the door switch (easiest).

In a 100 I would recommend actually doing a separate lighting circuit. Pick up several 6" LED strips (front, mid, rear cabin) and wire (with fuse) directly to constant hot source. You can trigger with a toggle switch. If you are feeling frisky you can do the camping light mod too http://tlcfaq.com/main/2012/06/rear-hatch-camping-lights/

Door switch are ground trigger only. You can use a $2 Radio Shack micro switch. On your micro switch one side goes to ground and connect the other side of the switch ties to any door switch wire.

I mounted some blue LEDs in the overhead console for ambient and tied them into the map light circuit, ahead of the switch. The same could be done in the 2nd row too, IMO
