and voice plans
I had a "duh" insight yesterday when deciding on my next phone/data 2 year contract:
Within a plan I can change data and voice plan as needed. I was looking at Sprint but out of area data max was 300MB. I ordered a replacement iphone when I discovered I could change packages, plus backdate the effective date to the beginning of the billing period.
I've been negative on AT&T so I was surprised at this flexibility. I'm fine with paying for the expensive 2G tethered if I'm traveling in north america. Perhaps all the plans allow this flexibility.
I also realized I can reduce my comcast data plan by 75% when not at home. Another "duh". All of this I can do online in a couple minutes.
A couple other things. I'm in a Sprint 4G area, but it doesn't do me much good traveling. Sprint deletes negative reviews from its website.
For home, Comcast internet supports DOCSIS 3.0 modems now that are faster than older models. I ordered the new Motorola SB6120 SURFboard, but it's safer to lease a DOCSYS 3.0 modem from comcast.
I' never sure about making the right choices with these contracts. Clearly all these businesses are oriented towards consumers signing a maximum contract and not managing their use.
