Last week the wife and I took a short drive north of ABQ and ended up just south of Chama. Here are some pics.

This is the Ghost Ranch area. Unfortunately I don't think there are any OHV roads through these mesa's.

Beautiful area. I fell in love with Chama when I drove through there this last summer. Too bad New Mexico is such a large state...I wouldn't have to drive so far from Cruces:sombrero:

Thanks for the comments guys. I wanted to take advantage of the warmer than usual weather and melting snow. We saw some snow but it wasn't a obstacle.

Next time, couple places to check out. Just north of Ghostranch by like 3 miles is a road to the west that takes you back to the Chama river. It's a gorgeous canyon and a great area. There are also some great overlooks of the Chama River valley of you head further north and take FR 145 to the west then make your way back south to the rim. I love living here, northern NM is amazing. :costumed-smiley-007

On the map there is a FR that takes you just north of Ghost Ranch and I was hoping it would take us through the Ghost area. But it actually took us back towards Espanola from Canjinlon. There wasn't much to see on that road besides forest.

There are some other spots in that area that I want to explore once the snow is melted. I'll definitely check out the Chama River spot.
