I've been looking at a number of vehicles to build out for travel. Some of which are ex-military both ex-US and ex-German versions. In Ulrich Dolde's book "Motorhome: Self-build and optimization", he mentions that "American overlanders have been warned that they cannot leave the country in de-mobbed military vehicles. This is currently a top of interest amongst overlanders in the US and everyone should check where they can go with their <civilised> ex-military vehicle as this could apply to other countries as well." (page 67 of the version I have)
