I'm planning a trip on Dec 16, either Tucson or Florence area, and would like some company. This will be my first real trip in the 4Runner.

Interested?

Ideas include:

C-Gap (Tucson)
Box Canyon/Coke Ovens (Florence)

Pre-run the GAP? The GAP....10-days apart? I'm WAY TO OLD for that! You youngsters! :hehe: I'd be crippled for a week!

Not sure if we can run the 16th. I'll letcha know.

I can run the Gap on the 16th. I'm trying to get a run together for the 30-31 on IH8MUD with Copper State Cruisers, so the 16th would be a good prerun. If its 2 to 4 vehicles it will be around 8-10 hours if we wanna have some fun. I don't know what you have in mind, but I like to run in from Oracle and come out in Catalina.
After missing the Pyeatt run(due to family illness) and bustin my hump on my house, I'm jonesin for some rocks.

I've never run it backwards ... very interesting. Would you be up for an early start?

Those in the Phoenix area who have never run this trail should come down, it is fun.

I want to come to one of the meetings at the pizza place you organize to meet you, unfortunately, I have plans this Friday so can't (believe me, I'd rather be eating pizza than at the inlaws).

I'm always down for early.
I've never actually run it the other way. Either way is cool with me, but I'm more familiar with the trail the way I'm speaking of. If you're confident in leading from Cat to Oracle, then lets do it that way. As long as I get to take a shot at the Step. Last time I did it, I was on 33" AT's and no lockers. Couldn't quite get over, kept hanging up on my sliders. Now I'm ready to own that beehatch.

I'm going to be stock, most likely, although I might be able to get a couple things done before then, but mostly likely not.

Oracle to Catalina would be fun, since I've never done it that way, i think it would be a great way to go ...

Sounds like a plan might be coming together, whoohooo.:D

Ive ran the trail both ways, and prefer south to north. IMO, running up the hill to c' gap proper from the Catalina side is more fun. The rest of the trail I just turn around and run whatever obstacles I feel like.

I might be able to make it, but not sure. It will depend on *business* that weekend.

You've seen my thread in MUD then. Come out in January! Finally we are starting to get some Toyotas to gather. The last 2 months have been cool, with 5-8 rigs and all good people to chat with.

Then you're missing running up the "escalator" and the blind turn at the top. Then dropping off some of the steps on the way down from the Gap.
Of course, like I said, I've never hit it the other way. Maybe I'm missing out.

The last time I ran it from north to south I was in 2wd all the way to the step. Granted, that was not long after they bladed the back side (north side), but it was really easy. As for dropping off the steps on the south (west) side coming down from the gap, I prefer to go up them. More fun IMO.

Kyle (rockcrawler) may be interested as well....not sure.

You'll eat that Step right up. Whatever you do don't give up. Sometimes I go right up. Sometimes try #2 or #4...but I always make it. You will too! Take the far right side in the 80.
