Defender Crew Cab rear seat fridge mount

Hi,

I will get a Defender 130 crew cab in a few months and in the need to but a fridge now already. Since I want to mount it behind the driver seat in the crew cab (taking out one single seat), the question is now how much space it gives in order to buy the right size of a fridge now.

Can any Crew Cab driver check for me how much space is given between the driver seat and the rear wall of the cabin? Thanks a lot, support is most appreciated!

I'm happy to try and take measurements for you but not sure I understand what you are trying to do. Both of my 130's have 60/40 split rear seats. You are planning to remove the 40 and mount a fridge there ? Is your truck going to be left or rhd ? is the measurement you want from the back of the seat to the rear bulkhead with the front seat fully back on the tracks ? Are you aware the rear bulkhead on 130's angle inward ?

Great, thanks a lot for your support! Here are the answers:
- The truck is LHD
- I want to take out the 40 seat and mounting the fridge there on a base that holds a compressor below, fridge mounted on the top and the seat fully back.
- I guess with the base as a mount for the fridge I can work around the angle of the bulkhead, but assuming that the remaining space behind the seat won't be enough to mount a 50l National Luna or ARB and I might end up taking the 60 seats out, but at least keeping one seat in the back.

Thanks a lot again!

This could also be an idea, placing two front seats and keeping the fridge in the middle where it could have a bit more space between the two front seats and still placed on a console for a large compressor.

The more I think about it, the more I do like this configuration. Just needs the exmoor trim seats in addition then. Thinking about putting a metal base below to store a Warn VTC for the tires and an ARB for the diff locks. That should work pretty well I think and allows a bigger fridge compared to the place behind the driver seat.

I am doing the two fronts in the second row of my 130 also. Also, remember the 110 & 130 rear seat area is of different dimension.

You're still working on that Dale? I figured it would have been done months ago. You must be taking your time and doing it right on that rig.

Those Exmoor high back second row seats pictured are god awefull uncomfortable if you are any larger than a hobitt. If you go that route use a pair of front seats. I'll get you a measurement when its daylight.

Doug, don't you have to build a seat box to use front seats in the 2nd row?

Mark,
Just bracketry. I had a 110 double cab that had front seats in the rear. Far more comfortable than the 60/40 setup.

The measurement from the back of the seat-fully back on the seat tracks and somewhat reclined, to the rear bulkhead flange where the window panel meets the bulkhead is 33 inches. The angle of the seat back pretty much matches the inward angle of the cant of the rear bulkhead so 33 inches is a measurement that should remain pretty much the same going down ward. Hope that is of some help.

Yea, slowly but surely- it keeps getting second billing. Also, decided I didn't like the gray, so completely disassembled her, and went Alpine White. Now I have a bunch of white body parts everywhere.
On a good note, I just got a one owner XD from Cali and we are almost done with a fresh complete top end!!
Hope to see you next month at Safari
