It was 125 outside the car... and ~135 on the dunes..

so friggin' hot!

These are some of the highlight photos we got when we did our little tour out there. Everything was done in a chevy cobalt... I busted the transmission case cover on a subway restaurant exit pulling out to go back to our motel.

The 54 miles on the horrible gravel / dirt road to the devils race track didn't even phase the car. nice eh?

Death Valley! What do I win?

I've done Anza Borrego in July to see the Smoke Trees blooming, it is definitely more quiet and the heat a little more soul piercing, but once you relax it's kind of nice if you're have your supplies...

Who knew that the Cobalt I rented last week to drive the jungles of Los Angeles had so much potential.

You have just again confirmed my firm belief that buying a rental car is a very bad idea.

I took my chances and came out barely unscaved... this time.

My next trip will be in the rover... slowly making it worthy for the trip down to panama panama. maybe next christmas break when I have 2 weeks of free vacation time I can add more time to and hopefully squeeze out a month. Its all preliminary.
