Designing a telescoping rack for my trailer/RTT and have a few questions.

So I'm working on designing and building a telescoping rack for my RTT. It's a old Sears trailer, 4x6 or so. As of right now, I want to build the telescoping section by using 1"x2" rectangular tubing in the stake pockets. Does anyone know if they make rectangular telescoping steel? I've looked on line and have not been able to locate any. If that won't work, my plan is to get some angle iron and run a piece along the bed sides of the trailer, and bolt it down. Then I weld square telescoping tubing to the top of the angle iron and build the rack from there. Thoughts?

I would also suggest you have a pivot at the top mounting location or you are going to have a hard time raising and lower.

I will likely be using 8020 product for my rack with their dynamic pivot. A couple of links for you.

I had a steel rack built that's adjustable height but it is heavy once I got the RTT on it. Looking at making one out of aluminum now.

Echoing the notion of going with a pivoted solution, it might be worthwhile reading this as well. That link takes you to an illustration of what someone else has done and deeper in the thread you'll see where he pulled it off (damn nice trailer build and done in very little time). Seems to be a solution worth considering. Good luck!
