Desulphate these batteries?

Hey everyone,

I have an old electric scooter that's been sitting in the garage for a couple of years without use.
It has 3 Yueyang 12v 12ah batteries that won't hold a charge. The model number is 6-DW-12

They are all wired in series.
The voltages read, 1.08, 1.12, 0.18

Can they be desulphated? They held a good charge a couple of years ago.

If so how do I go about doing that?

Thanks

De-sulfation may or may not help. If I were going to do it, I'd try the Battery MINDer linked above.

But it may take weeks or months to see any real improvement, and even then it might not be much.

You'll probably get better results from equalizing - HOWEVER - doing an EQ on a sealed battery (any sealed battery) can result in causing the pop-off valve to open up and vent...and since you can't replace any lost water, it's all downhill from there as regards battery life.

Sealed, and even AGM, batteries CAN be EQ'd, but it usually takes a specific (exact) procedure and a programmable (lab spec) power supply.

You should contact the battery manufacturer and see if they publish an EQ procedure.

If not, then about all you can do is the de-sulfation.

Oh. Just noticed that third voltage reading - "0.18v". Is that right?

Chances are, that battery is toast, and being connected in series to the other two for a few years has probably screwed up the other batteries as well.

Thanks for the reply. I was worried that was going to be the news.
Those batteries are only $23 each on eBay, seems silly to try and save them.
May try anyway, and if I manage to save them, put them to use in my trailer electrical project

Thanks
