Dexter Torflex Axle

I am going to change my hubs to match my Lexus wheels and would like to know if I should replace my Dexter Torflex Axle since the original axle has several miles!

How often should you replace your Dexter Axles or are they suppose to last the life of the trailer?

I am planning on a long trip next year, so I am thinking maintance or would I be throwing my money away if I replace the axle!

Have you checked yours for play unweighted? A friend of mine replaced his on his Venturcraft after noticeable play when checked. Mine has very few miles and is very tight and has zero play.

Too early for me to commit but I have been lurking on your trip the beginning of next year. Sound great

I'm looking into these for my next trailer build. Axle-less trailer suspension from Timbren. The Dexter axle in my trailer doesn't move much, I've been airing down the trailer tires when I go off road to create some suspension. Guys that have used the Dexter and switched to the Timbren say that these are much better.

Timbren looks like a nice design but I see the lightest set up being 2000#. A loaded Venturcraft is 1000# and under.

Yes you are correct that they do make lighter setup then 2000# The link you provided is for bump stops (a170) not suspensions. http://www.timbren.com/aeon-rubber-springs.htm

I was intrigued so I called and talked with Timbren. There background is military but they have been working with some individuals on the west coast involved with off road trailers. Unique design using a spring along with rubber so when unweighted to avoid common bouncing of unweighted trailer.

They actually make there axle-less suspension starting at 400lbs per axle. Spec'd working and shipping weights linked below is per axle.

Axle-less suspensions dimensions

Looks to be a very nice alternitive to the Torflex axle. To bad mine is new.

Thanks for the information I will check that before I proceed.

Trying to make adjustments to make it to Loreto for 2 nights in my Baja trip, I hope you can make it!

Oops. I have to say their web site could use a bit more work. I saw the spec for 400#, but could not find any details in the limited time I looked around.
