Different Editions for 1995 Discovery?

I came across this 1995 Discovery today and noticed a for sale sign in the window, so I checked it out briefly. I noticed a few options that made it stand out to me (admittedly not much knowledge with Land Rovers). It has decals on the rear quarters that say "4X4 OFF ROAD" they are faded/cracked and appear to be original. It has sidesteps and a upgraded (probably oem) front brush guard. For some reason it looks like all of the fender flares were removed. I looked through pages of google images and couldn't find another with those decals, does anyone know if this is a special edition or anything? I really don't know much about land rovers, so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. It had a lot of leaks underneath, and doesn't look like it was cared for very well. On a side note, I never realized how much a montero resembles a discovery until i parked by one.

Disco F150/250 SE!

Previous owner or a used car lot wanted to bling it out.

Good find! Thank you for the info, I guess it's nothing special. It's for sale for $1000 if anyone is interested in Washington, I'm sure they would take less since it's been sitting for awhile and has a flat tire.

Always sad to see a D1 fading away like that in indignity.

They also didn't come with fender flares, that appears to be more/less as it left an Autozone before the 5th owner ran out of $$$ to fix things.

Fender flares were an option on D1s. They were a bit more subtle than the D2, but they were available to buy from Rover. Here's one with factory arches

I always viewed that as more a trim package than fender flares ala the Dii. Semantics perhaps.

True, it was an option, rather than standard. I was just saying they weren't all O'Reilly's add ons :)

1996 was the transition year for the Disco 1 to Disco 2s. Some 1996s are D1 and other 96s are D2s. Easiest way to tell them apart is the door handles. D1s have flat ones as seen above whIle D2s have the longer pull handles and are a bit larger. If that D1 is a 5 speed, it may be worth picking up for a grand.

Um...1999 was the transition year. 94-95 NAS D1's were 14CUX, 96-99 D1s were GEMS.

As Ray said, flip that "6" upside down...

a D1 for a grand is a deal if its not rusty. I have paid more for donors I took apart for defender builds.
Must depend on your location. Out here in California, it's tough to sell a running, driving, registered D1 for much more than a grand.
