Yep, significantly different.

in the Uk you can buy adaptors to fit D2 wheels on a D1 but not the other way,

D2 wheels are far cheaper, as people buy a new shiny landrover and fit big bling wheels.

Besides the spacing. D1 are lug centric and d2 are hub centric IIRC
