Disco II Armor

Who makes front and rear pinion guards for the Disco II? I've looked at the Rock Ware products on the Expedition Exchange site, but they are Disco I.

The QT front guard does require some welding. You can check with Justin but I think there is a Defender guard that will fit w/o welding.

I had the QT rear guard on my old DI and it worked flawlessly.

I'm running QT guards (front and rear) on my DII. But to be perfectly honest, the truck is still a "poser". My DI is the true off road truck.

I plan on getting the RTE next weekend because they are cheap and will be installed for free.

I'm running a QT rear (fantastic) and a Rovers North front guard (welded on). they both have done their job quite well and have the gouges, dents, and dings to prove it

Chris, what made you go with the rovers bolt on as its more expensive than the RTE? Curious to know before I commit in a few days.

I've heard some stories of bolt-ons falling off on trails so I went with welded on. I got safari gards, but i'm sure the RTE's are similar. Having them welded on just gave me piece of mind over being held on by a band strap

Did you weld them on yourself, or take it to someone else to handle the welding? Welding isn't a skill I've had a chance to learn yet, and I don't have the equipment, so a bolt on option just looks easier if it costs much to get it welded on...

Just take it to a local muffler shop and have them weld it on...Streetwolf did that with his front QT Diff, I think it cost him all of $15 and they did an excellent job...They do all the custom exhaust work/welding for Eddie Hill (if you don't know who that is..>Google him), so we figured we could trust them to do a good job :)

well i got the rovers north "bolt on" guard super cheap. some D2 owner bought it, and never actually installed it because it wouldnt clamp on as advertised. i bought it, got it welded on Total was $50 including the welding. cant beat that for a perfectly good guard.

i went with QT because it wraps all the way around, gives a little more coverage and acts like a small skid plate. also wanted to give Justin some business at L8.

Can't beat that deal. I need to find some better deals.

On a side note, got the rear bumper mounted yesterday. Need to do the electronics tomorrow.

I have QTs front and back on my DII. The rear bolts onto the carrier through the harmonic balancer (which I removed) and the front has tabs that had to be welded on. It is a good idea to replace the diff fluid after you're done welding the tabs.

The rear guard moved on me once before when it was pushed against a rock. It stripped the bolts and bent them. That's why the harmonic balancer had to come off. I got new bolts and the guard is back in position.
