Discovery to the Beach?

Well to the meat of it. Every Easter I load up the little woman and the dogs for a camping trip to the Padre Island National Seashore. We have always gone in my 2 door Jeep. As you can imagine this get a little cramped with 3 days of gear and the dogs. I got the Rover for this kind of trips, however I'm worried about taking the rover to the beach and getting it a little more rusty :smilies27! It has a small about of rust where the b pillar meets the floor on the underside a well as the nice little bit of rust in the passenger rear door jam. Any advice on first protection the rust I have from spreading and then stopping any new?? I know a good wash but you know you can never get all the sand out with dogs! Or should I just take the jeep?

Use Muratic acid to stop the rust. Lightly sand (paper or brush), prime and paint over it.

For longer term protection, sand blast the bottom to rough it up, then undercoat it. We all used to get this done to our vehicles in Galveston.

I don't know of any shortcuts. If you want good rust protection, you have to put in the time / money.
