DIY Ladder extensions show me what you got

I have my RTT installed but my ladder is to short. I'm at 7'6 to the base of my RTT straight up. What can I do? Nobody has any extensions in stock and I need to get camping. Have a trip tomorrow to the Overland West Expo and then Moab the next weekend.

My idea doesn't allow the ladder to lock which makes it kinda sketchy for climbing and descending.

You can drill extra holes in the upper section of the ladder where needed to allow the pins to lock.

I wouldn't do that, those cheap aluminum ladders need the overlap. I think my tuff stuff locks around a foot is or so, it's not fully extended in his photo. I use a Tepui extension for my Tuff Stuff, works great and still fits under the cover.

Tree stand ladders

For Unimogs we have used ladders for tree hunting stands. The ladders are tall, cheap, sturdy and long enough that we just cut them down for the correct length. The ladders are in about 4 foot sections so they break down as short as the original ladders. We do have to fabricate our own attachment points which we bolt to the end of the ladder but the are very basis and simple.

Thanks. I saw the telescoping ladders at the Overland West Expo. There are companies that make them that will reach 16ft. You can see them on Amazon for $75 for up to a 12ft one. Just need to figure a way to convert one to work and attach to my RTT. Tepui and CVT are out of stock and won't get any for our a month from what I was told. I want a 8.5ft one. That should be about perfect.
