DIY License plate/third brake light mount

Hi everyone...I have done most of my posting in the trailer section. If you haven't seen my work drop by the trailer section and check out my projects there. I thought I would post up a quick little project I have been meaning to build for a bit now, so I thought I would git-r-done.

I made a removable license plate holder with third brake light that is mounted infront of your spare tire.

First you need to make the base that the plate will connect to. I did this by making a template out of poster board.







Check the fit.



Put the spare tire on so you can find center and draw a circle. This will allow you to weld the inner post to the plate you just made.



Cut out your license plate...plate steel.



Fab the holder for the factory third brake light.



Weld inner tube to the base plate and check fit and centering.



Weld tubing the will slide into base plate tubing onto the license plate steel. Also weld the brake light holder to the top of the license plate steel.



Add Electrical harness and shoot a quick coat of paint on it.

Install it by sliding the license plate holder into the tube you welded to the base plate then bolt in place. If you need your spare just disconnect the pigs tails and unbolt the bolt and remove the holder to remove your tire.

Test fit.



Now, go inside...grab a beer...slap your wife or girlfriend on the buttocks :Wow1: and say...."look baby....I made the that"....lol:wings:

I have EVO armor on so they cover that up, otherwise PS would be my choice for the delete. Love their stuff also.

Thanks, I added a small LED strip to it also so I am legal in the states that require it....:wings:
