Do new Wavian 'NATO' jerry can nozzles fit older surplus cans?

Looking for a nozzle for my '77 - '78 surplus 'Bellino' brand jerry cans. Am seeing a few reports the new Wavian nozzles don't fit older cans. This eBay seller specifically told me it would not fit old stock cans but the dimensions shown in his second photo are very, very close to what I already have (my opening is just slightly under the measurements - which is what I would expect). He says there is a small difference between the old stock and the new and that's all it takes for the Wavian nozzles to not fit.

Anyone have first hand knowledge on this? I know the brand can be found cheaper than the auction linked but it's the only picture I can find that includes the Wavian nozzle opening dimensions.
