Dodge 3500 TRX4 Off Road

I was at the Dodge truck website and found this model, unfortunately Dodge's website is a nonsensical mess and I couldn't gather any information. Selecting the menu choice for specifications brings you to a comparison table where the drop down that does not include the model, nor is this model included in the "Build Your Own" option.

It appears that the TRX4 is a diesel, available with a manual or automatic and in a regular cab or quad cab variants, but not the mega cab.

This does not seem to be a 1 ton version of the PowerWagon, but who knows or it many only be a tape and decal option.

Anyone out there know anything about this truck?

Thanks

Jim

$44k sounds high for what you get. Then again, you can deal it down much lower. I chopped off $7k from the $38k sticker when I bought. Still $44k ? Crazy high.

I went back out to the Dodge site and tried to the 'Chat' function and received the info below.
Tried to build one and couldn't find a 2008 SXT, so I searched for the model and found the page. You just can't build one. Frustrating.

Chat InformationThank you for contacting the Dodge Information Center. A Dodge Representative will be with you momentarily.

Chat InformationYou are now chatting with 'Sian'.

Sian: Hello, how can I help you with your Dodge Vehicle questions?

Sian: I would be happy to assist you.

Sian: May I have your first name please?

you: Jim.

you: Looking for info on the TRX4, this model does not
appear in the drop down under the specs & upgrade tab

Sian: Hi Jim1

Sian: I will check to see if the TRX4 is still an option.

Sian: To ensure the accuracy of the information, I'll need a moment to research that for you. I'll be away for a moment. Is that alright?

you: yes

Sian: The reason you are not able to find it is because the TRX4 is no longer an option for the 2008 Ram line up.
you: Then why is it featured on Dodges website

Sian: Because the website still shows 2007 modesl.

Sian: Models that is. I apologize for the spelling.

you: This is listed as a 2008 model

Sian: Let me verify with my supervisor.

Sian: The TRX4 is now referred to as a package you can add to the SXT

Sian: Reg/Quad cabs. Unlike previous years where the TRX4 was considered a separate model. If you go through and build and price a Ram SXT you will see the option to add the TRX4 group .

Sian: You can absolutely build and price your own Dodge vehicle. From the Dodge home page click on Build Your Own, select your desired vehicle, and then click on the right arrow button to proceed.

Sian: TR X4 Off-Road Group — Includes antispin differential, tow hooks, skid plates for T-case and front suspension, TRX4 Off-Road decal, fog lamps, SIRIUS® Satellite Radio,(6) 265/70R17 OWL on/off-road tires (fuel tank skid plate for 2500 models) (only on 4x4 models; NA on Quad Cab long box models)

you: thanks

I built one similar to my 03 srw 1 ton, it came to $45,000, I paid $ 38,000 in 03 for an all option model. I don't think the trucks are going up that much it's just the dollar is worth so much less.

I have no direct experience with it, so keep that in mind, but on the rv.net truck camper forum a guy bought a Power Wagon and put a camper on it and had lots of trouble with it. They are not designed to carry heavy weights like a camper. In fact Dodge says not to put a camper on one. Because the dealer had assured him it would be fine, they let him trade it on a diesel 3500. My guess is they saw the error of their ways and dropped the Power Wagon and are offering the off-road package to their regular trucks. Bob

To be fair, the power wagon was a bit more than just an "off-road package"... It'd be nice to get the 3500 with a Powerwagon option. I loved the Integrated winch, and the Sway-b Disco's as well as the lockers...
