Does anyone know where Pangea got his rack?

On the new Bio 110

just wondering if where he ordered it form or if it is custom, I know safety devices is doing a short run of G4 racks but the cost is most likely prohibitive although I might go with a Brownchurck camel original rack I do like the low profile of Nathans and the G4

thx!

The rack was a G4 style rack from Rover Racks/Voyager Racks. I did have it customized to accommodate a roof top tent. This was simply stopping the top rail (and bending it down to the base) about 57" from the back for a 1.4m tent and adding four mounting tabs for the tent.

Hi,

Safety devices just did a run of the G4 racks in the late fall/winter 2009. I know because I bought one and just saw it at our exporters place in the UK when I was there a few weeks ago. Looking forward to seeing it on the 110.

hey Roark, welcome to the board!

lets see your rig!

can you tell me how much the SD racks are selling for over there?

the roverracks is on SALE for $2K US here which is high, I think the brownchurch camel rack is like $1200 US I could be wrong I'll check

the roverracks "factory" is local. i've been by the shop. i have one of their ladders. the company has improved but some of the welds still come out incomplete. after owning my hannibal, i dont think i would ever go any other route with a rack.

hey,

Actually my rig is on ebay right now ... the same one you commented on yesterday, the White 86/87 D100.

Racks from Safety Devices are sitting at our exporters in the UK and will be shipped with 2 Defenders in the next 2 weeks.

For the Rack, ladder and floorboards I paid 1265 GBP ($1900 USD). Bought a bunch of other parts like the NAS style rear step etc. i'll post some pics of those parts.

Here is what the rack, ladder and floor boards look like on another 110. I soon as I saw these pics I went on a month long hunt to find the rack. There is another supplier that makes a very similar looking one also. I'll try and find it if your interested.

so you're part of the Canadian defender rover importers?

if so you should post your projects, available parts and trucks in the classified section

what are you asking for the trucks with the racks or the racks separate?

anyone know how child seats fit in defenders out of curiosity? not sure I would allow it unless it is dot approved and I know only the NAS are but just curious if anyone had relevant info

thanks!

Yes I am, but also an owner of a D110. Under this name I don't connect myself to roverdefenders because I'm also just another person trying to figure some things out.

Thx for the tip on the classifieds, I'll post there for "sales" type stuff.

I have 4 boys, the oldest is almost 5 so they are all in car seats. The second bench will hold car seats that can be fastened with lap belts. The lap belts are anchored to the chassis so for us we consider that safe.

Part of the reason why I'm selling the D110 is the arrival of our fourth and I am going to get one built with forward facing seats in the back (instead of the bench). There are two varieties one that isn't suitable for children and one that is.

great stuff Roark, you sound very personable and I appreciate your candidness

congrats on the kiddies too! Our first is about turn ONE! Best time of my life :)

I spoke to Rovers North, who is a big importer of all LR goodies and they said they are not allowed to import the forward facing seats since they are not DOT approved here as that was my first inclination. They did say they consider the bench seats very safe and all their employees kids use them

I'm looking forward to your trucks, I'm only a few hours from the border and travel regularly to Montreal. Toronto is one of my favorite cities

great website by the way. Have you considered teaming up with one of the adventure companies and offering a "go explore before you buy" kind of thing? I know there are plenty of for hire adventure companies but something like the Rugged Guide etc might appeal to some people. I think 2 people could swing a stock Defender of any age on a trip to Morocco if there was support and the prices are reasonable if you bring your own truck etc. maybe not idk

nice talking with you

Did you customize it yourself or Andy did the cut out for the ARB RTT?

I think Andy did the cut out

there is a brief youotube from Pangea. They were working on the truck for hours prior to SEMA '09

the rack arrived with the cut out. Roverracks also lists it as an option

Thx Z O O R O P A!

Ya we've got seven on the way over and are prepping to order the next batch. Response has been great and we are enjoying speaking with other enthusiasts. This is really a side thing for us; we just love Defenders and want to bring some good quality ones in. Let us know next time your swinging through the Toronto area, if we've got some in stock you're welcome to come on by.

And congrats on your nearly one year old, it's a busy time of life but so great. I'm really looking forward to outfitting a D110 and taking them camping.
