I've been getting by for years with a cheap adjustable one - but I'm not expecting it to hold gear back on steep descents, etc... Just expecting it to keep the dogs behind the seat. I have to use a bungee cord between the headrests to get enough tension on it to hold it in place - but on my budget I would rather do that than drop real money on a work of art. Plus it transfers easily from vehicle to vehicle.

Mine looks like this one: http://tinyurl.com/ye2n8v3

In my 4Runner I can put it between the rear seat and the cargo cover, so that part is still useable when the dogs aren't in there.

It's bent up, scratched and non-fancy, but it's been getting the job done for 7 or 8 years now.

I used a raingler net in my short lived 4 Runner...and it was a really good product.

I think the Raingler stuff is really nice, but I would be worried about the combination of long drives, bored dogs and webbing. Pretty tempting and expensive chew toy.......

I rigged up something similar to the raingler stuff but I used a tailgate net from my truck. My dog who does not usually chew decided to chew through it little by little. At least it wasn't expensive. I now have used metal barrier, it serves its purpose well.

That is what I am afraid of with the net I have one dog who will get bored and try and chew through it I think he has ADD sometimes.

Yeah, we tend to take our dogs on lots of long trips - even the best dog gets bored eventually

I've forgotten the brand of mine. (i'll check when I get home) but I picked it up at PetSmart a couple years back. Fairly universal in size with adjustable side peices to fit any width. Actually follows the interior pillar and roof lines of the 80 quite well. It's secured by tension between the floor and headliner liner. I put some padded pipe insulation across the top of mine to make it a bit more gently on the headliner. It works pretty well at keeping gear and the dog in the back. I think I paid something in the realm of $75 for it. Can't remember but it wasn't much and has worked well especially for the price.

Not the best pic, but you can sort of see it.

I think I know a dude in WY who has been trying to sell a barrier for an 80.. .I'll ask him..

Edit.. found the info..

Full cargo barrier that will fit an FJ80, FZJ80, or LX450. Fits behind second row seats (3rd row must be removed) and prevents gear from hitting passengers during a crash or rollover. Made in Australia to very strict standards. These things are beefy, and can supposedly act sort of as a rear rollbar in a rollover to keep the roof from collapsing. Also comes with an emergency window hammer/seatbelt cutter mounted to it. These are highly coveted and I don't think they are being imported anymore.

The upper mounts on this one are modified so it's much easier to install (with no sacrifice to safety).

$375

That one is much nicer than the one I have. Much more expensive too. What I like about the one pictured above is that it bolts to the floor and to the grab handles above the rear doors (I think) making it a very solid barrier.

My cheaper one is held only by tension. But it works.
