I did a search for these batteries and came up with a big goose egg.
I read on another forum where someone installed their dual battery system using Braille batteries http://www.braillebattery.com/. They make lightweight AGM racing batteries and you can fit two of them in the same footprint as a traditional Optima size battery and they weigh at or under 21 pounds each.
My concern is their ratings in the role of a camping/lighting/winching/accessory running system.
Their largest "lightweight" is the 21 pounder and while it has a good pulse amperage of 1350 for starting, it only has 550 cold crank amps. It's amp/hour rating is also low at 31 as well as a low reserve capacity of only 1 hr. 15 mins. Now, I know the smaller the battery gets these ratings follow right along with it.
The real question is will two of these batteries work in the role of an occasional expedition style campout, winching, and fridge type duties...or should I just stick with what I was originally going to use (Die Hard PM-1)? I know the Die Hard ratings are off the chart in comparison to the Braille and I believe would be overkill for what I foresee using my dual system for, but in terms of merely saving weight and space, could they do a decent job?
