dumb question on sun angle for solar charge

So this might be a simple question, but I got all my solar hooked up last night and in proper working order. I'm using the mppt-60 and this morning about 45 mins after sunrise, the read out is still showing as "night". Is this because the sun isn't high enough yet, or is something else going on. I won't have a chance to check it until about 5pm this evening, so hopefully that's not too late in the day. Thanks for any input!

It sounds like something might not be connected right. Use a multimeter to ensure that the + and - are correct. It can be deceiving.

Agreed, something doesn't sound right (the charging status light on my MS MPPT-15 comes on easily an hour before the sun actually comes above the horizon).

I believe there is a fault code for reversed polarity on the panels (couldn't tell you want it is though without looking at the manual), I would say more likely something isn't connected somewhere.

Edit:
No mention of a solar reverse-polarity warning... So I would agree it's that, it's not connected somewhere (open circuit), or possibly there's a short somewhere in the wiring (like possibly a stray strand of wire in between where it's attached to the controller's screw terminals?)
