I took a five day trip through the eastern Sierra Nevada over the Labor Day weekend and I enjoyed some local hot springs and the beautiful Alabama Hills.

Here's a link to my Blog Post for the trip:

Years ago I was the Government Documents section at the University Library doing research for a Geology paper. Got bored and just started poking around in the stacks.
I found a document that listed all of the natural thermal waters in the state of CO. Temps, mineral content and flows, maps. Done about 1932.
One of my friends that I was going to school with was hired to do a survey in AZ if the hot springs.
I'm sure you can find one for CA.

Yes, I did put it back in the stacks.

I was a librarian before I went to college after all.

I didn't mean to jack your thread. it was about your adventure after all and I just wanted to say with a bit of investigation you can find out of the way places that won't have lots of other people. Then, again, you may not meet some of the more eccentric ones either...

It makes me want to go find some more hot springs to soak in.

Monkey.

Nice trip report for a fun area . I've tried to fill the Crab Cooker hot tub, but it's never fully filled , not sure why, the flies near that tub are often pretty bad as well...

I have found a website (I don't recall the name of it, but it's easy to find) that lists all of the hot springs in NV and it's complete with GPS coordinates. The site, however, doesn't list the water temps or if they're otherwise safe to soak in. NV has some very, very hot hot springs, so you have to always be extra cautious, especially if you're tromping around with a dog like I do.

I did notice the flies were out in full force at the Crab Cooker. I walked over to the source pool and it was bone dry, so maybe it only replenishes after a wet winter. We'll see...
