From 2006 through 2008, International made a series of "xtreme" trucks for personal use. The MXT was the most useful for ExPo purposes. It's a 4x4 crew cab version of the medium duty 4300, converted to single rear wheels. The cab and custom pickup bed are lowered on the frame, giving the truck a lower profile than the typical 4300. The biggest concern is the load rating of the tires, which limit the cargo capacity.

Unicat America converted an MXT to an overland vehicle.

Unicat convinced International to sell them an MXT with military axles, which raised the cargo capacity of the truck considerably.

You see the 4300 every day, going about mundane tasks like rollback tow truck, bucket truck, and in-town delivery. So parts and service for this vehicle would be no problem.

I really like these trucks, but they sold new for about $90K, and about 2009, dealers were discounting them to get them off their lots. I know "they're not making any more of them," but still . . .

I myself would rather have a Kodiak with a DuraMax and Allison combo. Transformers made those popular with the character Ironhide.

When I see the MXT I think Fast and Furious 6.
