Educate me: complete drum brake overhaul (m101 cdn)

My little trailer isnt going to win any beauty contests, but I actually kinda like the patina ;-)
One thing I do want to overhaul is the brake system totally; keep the hand brake and drums but replace with all new equipment/internals. The internals are just nasty and it seems smarter to thoroughly rebuild with new parts--pads, drums, springs, the whole 9. I know nothing about drum brakes though.

Anyone have a go-to list of parts (and sources) you've used? My wheels are original to the trailer and staying that way; just need help with dialing in the brakes-- cable and housing too.

You should be able to find all the parts you need on-line , as for doing the work use one side as a guide/reference so you know it went back together the rite way .

Check the military trailer sites for a scamatic of the brake parts and numbers.
The brakes are simple and if your parts are good, a tear down, clean paint and reassemble is all you need.

I think I need a bigger truck!
Hey man.
I pulled mine apart like the 3rd day I had it, and they looked HORRIBLE. I pressure washed it and scrubbed it out, they looked like new. I tested them, gave them a quick adjustment and they work great. If you are looking for the definitive documentation and details on this trailer, check out the Yahoo Groups page (Yahoo account required) and or download a copy of the full service manual from my website.

Manual:

Specs:

http://vimb.com/wordpress_data/pdf/m101_cdn2/M101CDN_SPECS.pdf

These are hosted on the Yahoo site as well, I found these online (thanks to Google) and stored them on my site for ease of access.

Parts are mostly off the shelf and should still be available at Napa. The OEM shocks are actually Napa parts.
