El Camino Del Diablo - November?

Alright, I know many of you have run it several times over the last year or two, but I never have and I want to. :p

I do a lot of exploring solo, but I don't think I want to push my luck on this one. Would any one be interested in running it with me some time in November?

I probably can if you run it over Thanksgiving weekend. I will have that whole weekend off and I've always wanted to do that trail.

Sweet! That is exactly the weekend I was thinking. I am going out of town tomorrow morning for a week and a half. We can talk about it more when I get back.

Seth,

If you wanna do El Camino del Diablo, you should do it. IMO, it's definitely worth doing...ONCE! BUT...if you haven't done the Mojave Trail, I would recommend it over del Diablo. I'm just throwing in my two cents worth as someone who has done both. It will be interesting to hear opinions here from others who have also done both.(Scott, Al, Chris, who else?) From my point of view, the topography on Mojave Trail is much more varied, interesting, and beautiful than del Diablo.

Happy Trails....Vince

P.S. No way am I trying to discourage you from doing del Diablo...just throwing out my frame of reference...something I appreciate from others!!

Awesome, glad to see some interest. I was afraid I was going to have to run it solo. :p

Vince, the Mojave Trail sounds awesome. Thanks for the info and suggestion.

I am game for El Camino Del Diablo or the Mojave Trail. What do you guys think? I just want a couple days of solitude in the desert with some cool history thrown in.

After Moab in October I am out of vacation for the year, so I have to run this over Thanksgiving weekend (Friday, 24th through Sunday, 26th). Does that work for every one that is interested?

I'm trying to talk the wife into it. I'd like to go. I have that time off already but she's in retail and would have to request that weekend off.

Good input Vince. I have thoroughly enjoyed both ECDD and Mojave. Seth, I would say you need to do them both. So go ahead and do ECDD first, and then hit up Mojave in the spring :ylsmoke:

Two quick questions:

1. Do you prefer running it east/west or west/east?
2. Do you prefer entering/exiting at Wellton or Foothills Blvd?

Right now I'm leaning towards Foothills Blvd so I can check out the Fortuna Mine.

I prefer entering on Foothill & doing the Fortuna Mine Rd. plus doing Cipriano Pass. I've done both East - West & West - East, it gives you a different approach. The key might be were you want to end up at?
