El Golfo 200

SOAZ

Tim and Kelsey get lost..
We won our race last weekend! The race started in a little fishing village on the ocean called El Golfo south of Yuma AZ. We started the race side by side with another 1600 car. After pulling away in the first 100 yards his motor pulled on us and passed us.
We drove in his dust for the next 30 miles. This made for some exciting moments while we tried to see whether we were on the course at times. We had a couple of exciting moments when the course and the car in front of us turned, but WE didn't.
Along the deeper sand and bigger bumps our car had a couple of MPH's on the other car and we started the longest pass in history. We got along side the other car and creeped past him at about a half MPH better than him. We led for the next 30 miles until we hit a flat dirt road section. Once again he had us and the second slowest pass of all time occured. This time we actually had time to stare at each other between the race cars and say 'hello.'
A short time later the race car we had been battling so evenly with just pulled over. No smoke, no fire, but something had gone wrong. We ran the rest of the race in 3rd and 4th gear only because the transmission was acting up, but otherwise had a clean rest of the race.
Here are some pictures!! Enjoy!!
