I'm using a queen sized 12V "blanket" (it's really more of a mattress pad of sorts) with dual zone controls atop the mattress. It works fine...as long as it is matched to your power supply and you get the batteries charged back the next day. I have gone to turning it on high about an hour before jumping in the Maggiolina...then down to lowest setting for the night. Seems to be a good compromise. Sure is nice to jump into the sheets or even the sleeping bag when its warm!
I've used the mattress pad on and off here in Minnesota & have mixed feelings. Without an easy power source, I found it more trouble than it was worth. Mostly, I find double sleeping bags as comfortable or even more comfortable.
