My Dad used to trap, I've never tried it. I'm curious how you cure the skunk hides. Doesn't the smell stay with the hides?

It's nice to see your daughter trapping, it takes alot of dedication and thought to be a successful trapper and it looks like she has done real well. Reminds me of my high school days where I got up in the morning to check traps, went to school during the day, and coon hunted, running the dogs, most of the night. But that was back in the early 80s when hides were worth alot more than today. My duaghter hasn't shown any real interest in trapping yet, though I'm going to show her how to make sets, something I'd like both kids to a least be able to do, then it's up to them if they want to continue. What style of trap is your daughter using mainly? Nice job on the hide stretching, that seems to a lost art around here to the point where buyers prefer raw hides or full carcass' to someone's hack job.

Skunks are done the same way as any other fur bearer, just they get one more step that includes washing in Dawn soap, perioxde, water and baking soda. Best skunk deodorizer ever made.

Prices on fur is still fairly good, not as good in the 80's but you can pay expenses and put a few $$$ away for next year. She got 425.00 off that cat alone. Her line is only about a mile long right now, mines nearly 120miles. and this fall when i retire from uncle sam will grow to almost 200 miles.

I let her use anyhthing from #1 LS to #4/5 coils and snares. The only traps that are off limits is the 330 coni's. 110's and 220's she can use all she wants. But for saftey no 330's.

I would say If your going to start a younger kid out #1 LS and 110 conibears would be a good start trap. or some 1.5 coils. The 1.5 coil is becomming one of the most universal traps outthere but can be little tough on some kids to set.

The yotes cats and beaver i had to help her with but the rest is hers.
