Engel Fridge wiring issue.

Fridge tested on 110v and it works fine. Model MT-45

I installed a 12v dedicated outlet and it registered 13.37v at the outlet.

When plug in the fridge it doesn't turn on. The 10amp fuse in the fridge is good. The fuse in the plug in good. The led on the plug comes on.

Why isn't this working?

Recently had a similar issue with a friend's Disco. It turned out to be an issue with his wiring, it would pass enough current to test on a multimeter and light the LED but not enough to start/run the fridge. Does it work if you plug it into another DC outlet?

In my experience Engel's are pretty bulletproof.

Good luck!

Hmm, and it is completely dead at the fridge - not a dim LED or click but no compressor when you turn it on?

Absolutely nothing. But I know the fridge is good as I ran a 110 line out and plugged in the other plug.. Well at least the 110 is good. Could the 12v plug be bad? Or do the cables go bad?

It could be the 12v plug. Try taking the back off and and test it with a multimeter plugged in from the incoming side. Could be a loose wire as well.

It's kind of hard to test the plug. If I pull it apart to test the wires I can't keep the end and fuse in there to contact the inside of the receiving end. But it does have a led that lights up showing it is receiving current.

The very back of the plug should screw off - the end that the wires come out of.

i failed to clarify that i am using a different end. The Engel end was having the same issue so i thought it was a bad end so i replaced it with on from West Marine.

I had similar issues. Fuses OK, LED light on at plug.

Switched out the cable and it worked.

I'd pinched the 12 volt cable in my fridge slide and damaged the copper wire inside the outer sheathing.
