Craigslist showed me mercy yesterday when I found this:
_______________
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/for/1599186120.html
I have a few of these that are in inventory. mr40 , 45 , 15

all new in box...

i also have one used 40 used only once...

open to fair offer
________

So I am going to pick up the used mr40, but the others are still available as far as I know. I'm going to look at it and see if I want to cough up some more cash for the 45, but for my needs, I think the 40 will be just fine....

I exchanged a few emails with the guy and was not rewarded with warm fuzzy feelings. He claims that he is an Engel dealer and can match prices but he was asking full price for the MT-45. Some of what he has in the Craigslist ad were supposedly already sold.

he must have sold a lot because that's more than I was quoted... I was told $650 for a new-in-box Engel 45, but that was yesterday...

Yup - it was the one used model he had. Used in the shop to keep some beers cold. Got it for 500 bones. Couldn't resist...was saving for a trailer, but a fridge has more practicality and uses even when not in the vehicle...

Full of beer now!

How was he to deal with? I talked to him a couple of months ago and it just wasn't worth saving $50 over using a vendor that I know.

TERRIBLE customer service.

I've tried calling about 5 times to talk to John and he's never available and never calls me back. I finally had to call Engel directly for a warranty claim and then due to the confusion, I ended having to buy the piece I needed.

Sorry to be harsh, but stay away from this shop.
