Engel "thermal fuse" work around replacement options?

Mods sorry I posted this in the camp chef section by accident seeing it was sponsored by engel.

My fuse on my 12v ARB branded Engel mt-45 no longer shows continuity. Engel wants $10/each for these fuses. Can I pop in a regular fuse and go? I've got beefed up wiring from my dual battery (10ga) to the outlet for the fridge, direct. The fancy thermal protection now seems redundant for my application. The fuse did blow in a friends car.

Thoughts? Also the fuse isn't marked with amperage rating I'm assuming 5-10amp for a replacement?

According to this:

It's a 10a fuse.

According to Eaton-Cooper-Bussman:

"A Note on Voltage Rating

All fuses have a voltage rating. To maintain safety, this voltage rating should not be exceeded in application, although it is acceptable to use a higher rated fuse in a lower voltage application. For example: A fuse rated for 125 volts is appropriate in household (110V) or automotive (12V), while a fuse rated for 32 volts is appropriate for automotive (12V), but not for household (125V). Always replace a fuse with one of the same or higher voltage rating.

According to Littlefuse:

"FUSE CHARACTERISTICS: This characteristic of a fuse design refers to how rapidly it responds to various current overloads. Fuse characteristics can be classified into three general categories: very fast-acting, fast-acting, or Slo-Blo® Fuse. The distinguishing feature of Slo-Blo® fuses is that these fuses have additional thermal inertia designed to tolerate normal initial or start-up overload pulses. [bold added - dwh]

My guess is you'd be pretty close with a 10a slow blow of at least 12v rating:

Just make sure to get the right size...

Not too slow a blow!

Personally I'd get two from Engel, then use the spare to get a trusted pro to spec a match FFR.
